Amazon hasn't had too much luck with scripted programming, the crash and burn of their "Zombieland" (review) show doesn't exactly bode well for the studio, but they're looking to up the ante with a few upcoming projects, including one of particular interest.

Dumped into a news story about Amazon and potential new projects was a very familiar name: Chris Carter. The creator of the much loved "The X-Files," as well as the excellent but short lived "Millennium" and "Harsh Realm" series, is apparently back in action after a break post X-Files: I Want to Believe. Carter hasn't exactly been a prolific creator over the years but his projects are always of interest and this one sounds like it has potential.

"The After" is described as a drama "set at the moment of apocalypse." It's a bit vague and there aren't other details are scarce but the project is one of a few shows in the mix as potential new scripted projects for Amazon. Carter is writing and directing the pilot which will presumably be picked up to series by Amazon. Fingers crossed that this will actually happen.

In the meantime, it's worth noting that "The X-Files" is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. If you haven't seen it yet, the SDCC anniversary panel is worth a look.
