Marina Antunes [Celluloid 09.03.13] United Kingdom scifi thriller

It's been nearly ten yeas since director Jonathan Glazer brought us the spectacular Birth and the wait has been slow and painful, particularly since the announcement of his highly anticipated follow-up Under the Skin.

Written and directed by Glazer, Under the Skin stars Scarlett Johansson as Laura, an alien inhabiting a beautiful human female form who uses her sexuality to seduce, capture and feed on men. Reviews out of Telluride have been mixed but then, so where were early reviews of Birth and those who have seen and loved Glazer's work have little to worry about, especially after watching this ridiculously fantastic teaser trailer which suggests some both gorgeous and terrifying images in what feels very much like a 70s paranoid horror.

The teaser is very short but it'll have to do us for now. Under the Skin will play Toronto next week. Hopefully news of a theatrical release isn't far behind.

This has been done before, in the mid 90s. It was called 'Species' then and it was terrible.
