Marina Antunes [Celluloid 02.06.15] Argentina action comedy thriller drama

For all I know, Damián Szifrón's latest Wild Tales is only a continuation of the Argentinean writer/director's comedic sensibilities. If that's the case we need to stop everything and go back to see Szifrón's other movies because Wild Tales is a masterwork of twisted comedic genius.

One of the most buzzed about movies of last year's festival circuit, Wild Tales is an anthology film of cautionary tales, each written and directed by Szifrón and starring a broad range of Spanish speaking talents. The performances are top notch, the production values high but the real winner here are the stories, each of which is better than the last.

The newly minted trailer is solid but it doesn't begin to scrape the surface of Wild Tales which features an assortment of deliciously dark and hilarious tales of – mostly – revenge; sweet bloody and explosive revenge.

Wild Tales opens in limited release on February 20.
