I can't help but think that everyone involved with Gods of Egypt, from director Alex Proyas (who was once great but has now made more terrible movies than good ones) to the entire cast, and even the studio heads who gave this the green light, are in on some big joke where the audience is the punch line. There is no other explanation for how absolutely terrible this looks.
The posters? They were just the amuse-bouche before the appetizer.
There is some ridiculous story about gods (Gerard Butler and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) fighting against each other when a human (the underrated Brenton Thwaites) tries to steal something and then gets caught up in the war. Or something. Does it matter? It looks terrible; like a bunch of guys showed up to read some lines and then the movie was put together in post production at the local VFX school by a group of 1st year students.
What's worse is that it doesn't look ironically bad. There's no joy in any part of this trailer. Plus it doesn't look like anyone considered the audience for this movie. Is it for action fans? Kids? Women? Aliens? The blind? Anyone?
I can't begin to understand what the deal is with this movie and honestly, I just don't care. It doesn't even look bad enough to hate watch. Might explain why the studio is dumping it on February 26.
If you dare...
Recommended Release: Dark City

I'm not going to lie - I'll watch it.

I don't think I can bring myself to do it. It just doesn't look like any fun.

Yes it looks cheezy, and I'm sure it will be. But imo it does look fun. I'll be watching it too ;)

I'm 100% on board with this. White washing be damn, Proyas gets at least a vote of confidence in my book. What are all these bad movies you say he's made? I like all of them (never seen Garage Days).

TBH looks better than the WoW trailer

What fucking whitewashing. Sorry to break it to you but this movie is entirely made up. It's a fantasy.
Not an accurately historic movie.

Embarrasing beyond words. This looks even worse than Prince of Persia, Clash/Wrath of Titans and Jupiter Ascending alltogether...

This looks hilarious. Great fun for non-sober MST2K watching.
