Marina Antunes [Celluloid 01.26.16] Canada thriller

How far would you go and what would you do for a fortune? Would you lose your leg? Maybe even kill? That's the question at the centre of Numb, the new survivalist thriller starring Jamie Bamber ("Battlestar Gallactica," Vigilante (review)), Marie Avgeropoulos ("The 100"), Aleks Paunovic ("iZombie") and Stefanie von Pfetten ("Cracked").

The story centres on two couples who almost kill an old man who is wondering on the road. They pick him up, he dies in the car and Lee (Paunovic) searches the dead man's pockets and finds a coin and GPS coordinates to what they assume is stolen gold.

Completely unprepared but with dreams of gold, the couples venture into the wilderness in the dead of winter in search of the loot and find themselves not only fighting nature for their survival but also themselves.

We'd already seen some promising stills from the thriller and now we get a solid trailer which suggests things get seriously ugly for the couples, especially after they meet a fifth man in the middle of nowhere.

Numb does not currently have US distribution but it has been picked up by A71 Entertainment for Canadian release. No official date has been confirmed yet but Canadians will have a chance to see the movie starting in March as part of Canadian Indie Film Series screenings.
