At the rate that humanity is hurtling towards collapse, it's only a matter of time before all of our worst dystopic nightmares become realities but until then, we'll just keep getting movies about those nightmarescapes. The next one on the docket: "Hello America."

J. G. Ballard's novel is set in 2114, generations after an ecological collapse has made most of North America a wasteland. A century after America was abandoned, a group of explorers sets off to explore what's left of North America, landing in Manhattan and heading west across a mostly deserted country "populated by isolated natives and the bizarre remnants of a disintegrated culture."

It has been announced the Netflix has partnered with Ridley Scott and his Scott Free Productions to produce Hello America. This is the second time Scott and Netflix have partnered up; the pair is already working together on the Tom Hardy vehicle War Party.
