Key Characters:
Don (Robert Carlyle)
Scarlet (Rose Byrne)
Andy (Mackintosh Muggleton)
Tammy (Imogen Poots)
Major Scarlet (Rose Byrne)
Doyle (Jeremy Renner)
Flynn (Harold Perrineau)

Overview:
15 days later: Mainland Britain is quarantined. 28 days later: Mainland Britain has been destroyed by the rage virus. 5 weeks later: The infected have died of starvation. 11 weeks later: An American led NATO force enters London. 18 weeks later: Mainland britain is declared free of infection. 24 weeks later: Reconstruction begins. 28 weeks later: Repatriation begins.

The Story:
The movie starts off during the middle of the rage virus with a few survivors in a small cottage with the windows boarded up. Two of these are a husband and wife, Don and Scarlet. A boy knocks on the door and they let him in, but he is soon followed by the infected who break into the house. Don leaves his wife behind and is the only one to get out alive, escaping in a motor boat down a canal.

He ends up in the Isle of Dogs, a zone secured by the American led NATO force. His children, who were out of the country on a school trip when the virus hit, are brought back in as part of the repatriation efforts. But there's something Don isn't telling them about their mother.

There is a massive military presence, especially when contained in the "green zone" where the civilians live, even including snipers on the buildings. Although they have been warned not to leave this secured area, Andy and Tammy sneak out to go find their old house. Andy wants a picture of his mother. On the way out Doyle, who is one of the snipers, spots him and radios the two strays in. This is where the fun begins.

The Rating:
Based on the first movie I was expecting a lot more. The storyline was so short, and they could have done a lot more with it. I do have to say that the ending is really, really good. Hopefully they continue this series as it has a lot of potential. I'm giving it a 7 because of it's need for more storyline, and while some might argue it should get a lesser rating, I'm keeping it here based on the first one.

"Yes this is what it looks like."

Just saw this recently. Not nearly as impressive as the original, but still full of stunning visuals and creepy scenes. Seeing central London empty and desolate just warms my heart (its way too crowded normally).

I thought it was awesome, especially the part with the helicopter shredding the infected people. Not to mention, I got my first kiss during the movie.=) so maybe I'm a little biased

Because I say so.
Don't question me, I know way better than you do.

Why was it a mediocre sequel?
Because it's obviously a mediocre sequel.

Did it kill all the Muslims in London? If so it might be a good plan! Get the Brits out and let the virus out!

the effect is as good as the original (28 days later) sequel... perhaps its even more macabre. But I still prefer 28 days later because, apart from the horror and special effects, the first sequel was a psycological movie that critisizes hatred in general (notice the starting scenes of the movie). Interestingly, even though the army of soldiers was defending the innocent from the infected, some soldiers failed and tried to abuse the innocent (such as when soldiers tried to rape an innocent woman). By contrast, the second sequel (28 weeks later) is more simplistic, just aimed to present the good against evil story: the too heroic and perfect army against the infected.

say what you want about the movie but robert carlyle plays a very convincing role as a rage infected.

The film itself did have essence of the first. However, I think personally again it became very gung ho ra ra american army save the day. That isn't a dig at the forces by the way. I feel the film ended perfectly setting up for a bloody good third chapter. My favourite part of the film however had to be the night scope in the underground station. That was the only part that had me checking over my shoulder. The first one had me doing that quite a bit. Still a good film though. The plot did lack a little. So, out of 10. I'd say 7 as well. Just for the sheer gore factor as well.

Well,i love horror films & none have ever scared me. but this gave me nightmares. im obsest & i think the effect they give on the whole of the uk being empty is creapy enough..let alone the infected people :O. yeah the endings awsome. they should do a 3rd spreading across europe & asia & africa seing as all continents are close together. now thats fucking creepy!! x

Great film and at the very least, just as good as Boyle's original. A bit creepier than the first.

The world we Live in is horrible.
We are bringing ourselfs to an end along with The Earth and all of its Life forms so why not make the movie become true? Infect 1 person in every country and then Just wait for the whole thing to blow over, And the Infected will just starve afterwards/

I have to admit that I hated the first movie. The whole thing was stupid and cliche beyond repair. The soldiers were cliched and stupid, the concept stupid, and the ending lame. The idea that the crazies could run rampant throughout a hospital and miss a man in the open on a gurney leaves me speechless. Forget the first movie. This sequel is just great, intense and exciting. The first fifteen minutes alone are better than anything in the first movie. Too many lemmings will not acknowledge that this movie is so much better than the first. Classic apocalyptic action.
