So all we had last week was a release of Sweeney Todd worth posting, so we skipped, but luckily this week we have some interesting material. First off, THERE WILL BE BLOOD by Paul Thomas Andersen and starring Daniel Day-Lewis. Yes it's incredible if you haven't seen it. Next we have a Sonny Chiba release called G.I. SAMURAI which is about some Japanese self-defense forces who get transported back in time to when samurais were warring. Then we have the questionable Day of the Dead "remake" which looks more like a re-imagining... I'll still watch it though. Lastly is the 20th anniversary edition of THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN which agentorange is quite excited about. So check after the break for trailers, synopsis, and all them good amazon links.

In the 1890s, Daniel Plainview, a struggling silver miner, finds his true wealth in petroleum extraction while taking the orphaned child, H.W., as his own for a valuable family man image. In 1911, Plainview gets a tip on a valuable supply on the struggling Sunday family ranch in the impoverished Little Boston, California. In his quest to acquire the property, Plainview meets the sanctimonious Eli Sunday, the young reverend of the local church with his own ambitions for his diocese and the profit from the oil. As the oil wells begin, an escalating conflict arises between exploiters of many kinds while Plainview's canny ruthlessness gradually sinks into a slowly mounting malevolent madness. In doing so, it begins to drive every emotional bond away that all the wealth he gains can never replace.

As people perish, survivors realize that the virus is creating the walking dead who crave human flesh. Only a small number of people are immune to the virus, and those few survivors must battle to fend off the infected zombies while trying to make it out of town alive.

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Terry Gilliam, need I say more? "The fantastic tale of a 17th century aristocrat, his talented henchmen and a little girl in their efforts to save a town from defeat by the Turks. Being swallowed by a giant sea-monster, a trip to the moon, a dance with Venus and an escape from the Grim Reaper are only some of the improbable adventures."
