Christopher Webster [Celluloid 04.28.08] post apocalyptic movie news scifi

Man, I really like the way writer Marc Guggenheim and artist Dave Dumeer think. And if you're like me and you love post-apocalyptic alien invasion flicks then I think it's safe to say that you too are gonna dig the concept behind Resurrection and start getting really excited about the prospects of seeing it up on the silver screen. The story of Resurrection picks up at the tail end of a ten year battle between humans and an invading alien force called "The Bugs." For reasons unknown, the aliens have left earth and now humanity has to pick up the pieces and figure out how to rebuild in a devastated war ravaged world. But of course, there are other dangers besides aliens in the world... So basically, if you loved War of the Worlds but thought that Spielberg's family reunion was a tad trite, Resurrection might shed some light on the dangers that faced them after the invasion. Maybe little Timmy was better off dead. More treats after the break.

The Resurrection comic series is currently published through Oni Press who are also responsible for putting out Antony Johnston and Christopher Mitten's Wasteland, another PA comic series we love around these parts. As of now no director or writer is attached to Universal's film project but we'll be sure to keep you posted.
