It's Tuesday again which means we share our picks of new dvd's for the week. There's not much of interest except for the following four. First, the remake of The Wizard of Gore which stars none other than Crispin Glover as the murdering magician Montag. Next is the collection of 6 Spanish horror films from Lionsgate, 6 Films to Keep You Awake. Yup, that's a link to our review. Then, we have a special widescreen edition of Enki Bilal's adaptation of his own comic, Immortal, which is incredibly trippy. It has an Egyptian pyramid floating over New York (it was Paris in the comic) in the far future and I'd recommend checking it out. Lastly, season one of The Sarah Connor Chronicles drops today. Although the show plays loose and easy with the cannon set down by the first three Terminator films, our own agentorange keeps trying to convince us it's not as bad as all that. But hey, nobody's perfect right? Links, trailers and the like after the break.

The Wizard of Gore
Purchase at Amazon

Montag the Magnificent (Glover) is a master illusionist who performs at underground venues, selecting female volunteers from his rave-like audiences. To their hysteria, it appears he's dismembered their bodies, but his sleigh of hand has fooled them. However, female bodies show up dead from the same wounds performed on stage. Investigators are baffled, and the chase to find the killer begins.

Immortal (IMMORTEL AD VITAM)
Purchase at Amazon

This movie is set in the year 2095, hence the presence of mutant humans and extraterrestrials. The main character is known as Jill (Linda Hardy). She is not human. When she is discovered by Dr Elma Turner (Charlotte Rampling) she is diagnosed as being the most interesting genetic test subject Turner has ever come across. Her organs are not in the right place, she has no memory and she appears, biologically to be only three months old. Turner gives her a break, gives her an identity card and a place to stay, in exchange for being her guinea-pig to work on and discover more about. Nicopol is a frozen prisoner who is due to be released a year after the film is set. There is a problem in the prisoner ward and several are thrown down to grow (dying in the process), including Nicopol (but only his leg).

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Purchase from Amazon
Set after the events in 'Terminator 2' Sarah Connor and her son John, trying to stay under-the-radar from the government as they plot to destroy the computer network Skynet in hopes of preventing Armageddon.

I'm guessing Immortel is a re-relase. I remember renting this a few years ago because I was intrigued by the DVD cover. It was an interesting watch.

It is yeah. Weren't there issues with the language and subs on the original DVD or something? Maybe it's a fix of that.
