Christopher Webster [Celluloid 11.08.08] movie trailer news horror thriller

The last couple years have seen somewhat of a boom in Australian creature features. Croc films in particular seem to have been the name of the game - Greg Mclean's Rogue and Andrew Traucki's Black Water being particularly popular. People who've seen Traucki's Black Water have given it some high praise which brings us to The Reef, Traucki's next.

See me, I'm more of a Shark guy, and now that our buds at 24fps have pointed us towards this film I'm hoping it'll be a real shark shocker.

For three British backpackers it seemed like a dream come true. A Week cruising the world's most beautiful coral reef on their own yacht. But when their boat capsizes leaving them stranded on an overturned hull the dream turns into a nightmare. What should they do? Stay with a damaged hull that could sink at any moment or try to swim for land! Finally deciding to swim the three friends take to the water. As they close in on land a fin surfaces and with it the realization that they are being stalked by a deadly fifteen foot white pointer shark. Will any of them make the swim or will the sea take what it wants? The Reef walks the line between horror and psychological thriller.

The Reef hasn't even started principle photography yet and won't until spring of '09. But, you can watch the sales reel for the film here.
