Christopher Webster [Celluloid 12.02.08] movie trailer news scifi action

With a healthy dose of scifi combat a la Starship Troopers, the first trailer for Screamers: The Hunting looks to be a fairly solid action packed sequel to the Philip K. Dick inspired original. Not sure how it slipped under everyone's radar but that's what we're here for right? To bring you the very best in genre fare!

A group of humans arrive on Sirius 6-B to investigate an SOS signal sent out from the planet, which has been supposedly deserted since the destruction of the man-made weapons known as "screamers." Once the squad arrives, they find a group of human survivors eking out an existence in an old military outpost, but more important, they discover that the threat of the screamers has become even more insidious, now that they're able to morph into human form.

I can't find any info about where or when you can see the film but considering IMDB lists the filming location as Calgary Alberta Canada, I can only assume it's going to be straight to the dvd bin for this one. Check the trailer after the break.

Screamers will be on Space December 13th. But I thought screamers could already morph into human form.

Well they don't morph they just look like humans. I really like Screamers. Weller's great in it. The PKD short story it's based on, "Second Variety," is one of his best.

i remember a time when an appearance by Lance Henriksen in a movie meant it was actually worth your attention.
This looks like another me-too space horror/action.
Lance should have tried for a bit part in Avatar, instead of waste his time on this.

Hmm. Not quite as cool as the original Screamers. And totally agree "sonaboy." I still love Lance Henriksen but even he can't save most of the films he shows up in these days.
