quietearth [Film Festival 12.08.08] movie news drama



Here's the first really intriguing film I found in the Slamdance lineup.. I do love me some aberrant storylines.

Immersed in the dingy world of low-income housing and diagnosed at age 11 with coprolalia Tourettes Syndrome, Sonny Johnns cries out to a world that he feels has left him by the wayside. With money saved from years of government disability he takes part in an experimental surgery which promises to rid him of him violent outbursts.


With his symptoms eradicated Sonny feels he is finally experiencing life for the first time. But as his disorder begins to vanish so too does a divine ability of which only he and his sister Meryl are aware.

An ability that once upon a time, saved his sister's life and upon which Sonny may need to call again.

Looks great :D I've never heard of it before, but now I want to see it. Damn you Quiet Earth! XD but not really, actually, that's for showing it. Looks award worthy. The music, from I think Bjork went well with it.

The song is "Cosmia" by Joanna Newsom. She does sound like Bjork in this song, but it's not. Joanna's a harpist and singer-songwriter.

if this gets the right kind of exposure it could be huge.

the only thing i dont like about the trailer are the title screens (huge fuckin ugly purple arial just doesnt do the scenes justice) and the last sequence of him in phetus position drifting in what seems like space, reminded me of the fountain in a very bad and cheesy way.
