Easily the most interesting DVD release of the week is City of Ember, another underrated flick from Walden Media. One of the most original kids adventures I've seen put to film in a long time, the film is also loaded with smarts. It's brimming with metaphors and cultural commentary while the two, virtually unknown, child leads are superb.

Also out this week is the latest Mark Wahlberg starrer Max Payne which I'm interested in seeing for the film's visual style but hear it's pretty much not that great. The rest of the films out this week on DVD are mostly horror films. The fifth Saw film is out (keep flogging that horse boys), along with Norwegian thriller Cold Prey, Amusement, Dimension Extreme's King of the Hill and one of the honest to god worst films I've ever seen, Repo! The Genetic Opera. Thing is, Repo! is like sour milk. It's terrible, but for some reason you want everyone else to have a taste. By which I mean you should watch it and judge for yourself.

As usual we've got trailers links and film info after the break!
