Christopher Webster [Celluloid 06.01.09] zombies movie trailer apocalyptic news horror comedy

Empire Online has premiered the first ten minutes of Jake West's battle-of-the-sexes horror/comedy, DOGHOUSE. I've been waiting with breath that is baited for the film for well over a year, so does it live up to my expectations? Well, West's first film, Evil Aliens, was a zany low-budget gore fest and, while Doghouse has a similar vibe and will no doubt deliver in the violence department, it's definitely a more soberly made film.

The film starts with the introduction of each character as they leave their bitchy significant others and head out for a blokes only road trip. The first couple of scene start out a little shaky but the film is quick to find its rhythm and left me wanting to see more by the end.

Synopsis:
Danny is handling his divorce badly. He’s depressed. Gone to pieces. But his mates aren’t giving up on him. Struggling with their own mid-life troubles, they drag him off for a boy’s weekend in the country... which goes horribly twisted when they find themselves holidaying in a village overrun by psychotic, homicidal women.

Doghouse opens in UK cinemas June 12. With any luck we'll get one of our amazing correspondences there to give us a full review. Until then you can watch the first ten minutes here.
