Because I sure as hell don't, and that's because it doesn't exist. This morning I received some sweet retro gear in the mail: a t-shirt, pin, and hat which you can see on the Sargasso Planet viral site which has to do with.. DAY ONE! Remember when we leaked the trailer for the show? Well, a couple days later, a PR firm for NBC asks for my address and when I received a package this morning, I immediately thought lawsuit. But no, it's just viral material for the upcoming Day One campaign, and I for one will be sporting my tight new gear later this week (pictures to come soon ladies).
Now for the details.. it seems the Sargasso Planet campaign has something to do with a fictional entertainment franchise of cartoons, video games and toys and a guy named "Zack Adamski" who has twitter with obvious keywords capitalized like FLOOD, and also a flickr feed. Clearly, this is a character from the show but what does all of this have to do with the show? Here's a little description:
THE SARGASSO STORY -- For thousands of years, interstellar spacecraft have been crashing on a fog shrouded world with an irresistible gravitational pull -- The Sargasso Planet. Alien crews that survive landing find themselves in a hostile environment with no chance of escape. For the most part, the myriad alien races who populate Sargasso Planet choose isolation over cooperation. But now, a new threat has come to their planet. A threat committed to the destruction of every living thing that inhabits this world. Will the planet’s residents put aside their physical and cultural differences and work together to defeat this seemingly omnipotent enemy? Or will they succumb to fear and self-interest, finding themselves united only in their own obliteration.
I personally thought it was going the Thomas M. Disch Genocides route, one where aliens drop seeds on Earth with a fast growing/short rotation cycle, basically turning our planet into one big farm and wiping out the human race.. but it seems our own Canuck wonder agentorange might be right in his assement of a "Lost" scenario, or maybe even something like The Last Starfighter. Regardless, this doesn't look like it's going to be a straightforward War of the Worlds deal.. and that's a good thing.

I hope this is better than the METEOR movie that was on NBC this week and last week. As much money as these guys make it seems they could do better. I'm just very wary of any Apoc/Post-Apoc show that aires on regular television. If they get fans they will dump it like JERICHO. If not they will promote the hell out of it like FRINGE(sucks).

I really hope this show succeeds. Broadcast TV needs a good post-apoc show

Another mention for MR. Disch. I'm pleased to find him less obscure than I had imagined.

Nice digging man. I was fooled for a minute when you first got the package. I thought it was actually some obscure 80s show I'd never heard of. Now that I look at the site again it's pretty obviously about Day One.
NBC is definitely following Abrams in his unique viral techniques using totally unrelated products a la Slusho.

Also, the synopsis for the show, Sargasso Planet, quite obviously mirrors that of the show DAY ONE. Just replace "aliens" with "people":
"For the most part, the myriad alien races who populate Sargasso Planet choose isolation over cooperation. But now, a new threat has come to their planet. A threat committed to the destruction of every living thing that inhabits this world. Will the planet’s residents put aside their physical and cultural differences and work together to defeat this seemingly omnipotent enemy? Or will they succumb to fear and self-interest, finding themselves united only in their own obliteration."

Disch was clearly way ahead of his time.. he's one of my favorite authors.
