The influence of the Saw franchise on modern horror is too large to even really fathom. Every few months it seems there is another film about strangers locked in a room at the whim of a madman coming out. Luckily, I'm a big fan of this kind of claustrophobic horror as long as it's got some smarts and doesn't just rely on torture. Spain's Fermat's Room is a good example of this, though I know quietearth thought it was rubbish.

Well now, Russia is apparently adopting the story device in a new film called Phobos which is currently in production. The international watchdogs over at 24fps alerted us to some nifty new stills and a couple of posters as well.

Synopsis:
The plot revolves around a group of 20 some-things who are invited to the opening night party for a trendy new nightclub, housed in a huge disused underground bomb shelter. As the last of the revelers arrives, the huge blast door slams shut, blocking ALL communication with the outside world. Then total darkness envelops them….

As I said, I'm always intrigued by films like this, where characters are put in strenuous, time sensitive situations and made to think their way to safety. I hope it's decent. Poster and stills after the break.
