quietearth [Celluloid 08.27.09] France movie trailer news thriller noir

Awhile back we posted the teaser for this supposed French neo-noir flick about a safe cracker and I've been waiting to see a full trailer since. While it sustains the promise of action and sweet safe cracking skills, it's still not anything profound, but I'm hoping it turns out good. On a side note, I have a thing for safe cracking flicks as I knew a cat back in NY who, while incarcerated, was pretty experienced. He had an apprentice and everything, but he always blew his money on coke. How can you spend 80 large in just one week on cocaine? Hell if I know.

Sam Hazak belongs to a family of Jewish shopkeepers in the Faubourg Montmartre area of Paris. Refusing to work in the family business, Sam becomes a notorious safebreaker. But despite his talent, he finds life difficult. He pretends to his family that he is a property developer, but nobody is fooled, least of all his grandfather, an old-school "mensch". Sam is asked by one of the area’s old bosses to take part in a robbery at a diamond merchant’s. The break-in could be very profitable and enable Sam to retire before his nine-year-old son starts asking too many questions about his father.

Trailer after the break.
