Canadian auteur and all around genre legend David Cronenberg has been attached to muchas projects this year. Rumors had him helming a remake of Timecrimes had us excited (I still hope happens), but then it was announced that his sights had been set on The Matarese Circle and Cosmopolis. HOwever, now it 's been confirmed by Hopscotch Films that Cronenberg's next film will be an adaptation of "The Talking Cure," based on Christopher Hampton’s 2002 play about Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung.

"The Talking Cure" is about Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud and the earliest days of psychoanalysis. The characters are two damaged human beings, both followers and patients of Jung and Freud. One is Sabina Spielrein who transforms from a violent and deeply disturbed woman in her late teens to a reasonably well-adjusted medical student and then practitioner.

The film has even found a cast in Keira Knightly, Michael Fassbender and Christoph Waltz. Waltz of course turned in a simply unbeatable performance as "the Jew hunter" in Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds this year.

Thanks for our pals at /Film for ranglin' up the bits and pieces of this story.
