Marina Antunes [Celluloid 04.09.10] thriller

Add the great Brad Dourif to any movie and I’m likely to pay a little more attention. Cast him as a lead and you’ve definitely got me in your pocket. Hello Death and Cremation!

Justin Steele’s first full length feature looks pretty sweet but admittedly, it’s the fact that Dourif leads this pack of actors that really has me excited to see it. Dourif stars as Stan, a 59 year old man living in a suburb and making his living by providing cremation services from his basement (like that's not creepy enough). Needing a little extra help, Stan hires Jarod (Jeremy Sumpter) an outcast teen from the local high school to help out with the cremations but there’s a little more going on than the burning of dead bodies and when a string of missing persons leads a detective (Scott Elrod) to come sniffing around, things start to unravel.

Death and Cremation is currently in post production but if this trailer is anything to go by, we’re in for a bit of a treat. Looking mighty fine indeed! We’ll keep you posted on release details as they become available but for now, those in the LA area can expect the film to hit at least a handful of theatres out that way in June.

Trailer after the break.
