Is the apocalypse really coming or is Michael Shannon going crazy?
Jeff Nichols' exploration into one mans' possible psychosis, Take Shelter is a film we've been looking forward to for some time. It was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics for distribution before it even made its premiere at Sundance and with a recent screening at Cannes and a theatrical release due for later this year, it was only a matter of time before we saw a trailer and behold... here it is.
Synopsis:
Curtis LaForche lives in a small town in Ohio with his wife, Samantha, and daughter, Hannah, a six-year-old deaf girl. When Curtis begins to have terrifying dreams, he keeps the visions to himself, channeling his anxiety into obsessively building a storm shelter in his backyard. His seemingly inexplicable behavior concerns and confounds those closest to him, but the resulting strain on his marriage and tension within his community can't compare with Curtis's privately held fear of what his dreams may truly signify.
The trailer is impressive - stark and powerful just as we'd expected. Now to wait for that release date.
Trailer after the break.

I know it's a movie about the guy doing all this stuff and not knowing if he's nuts or not.
But I really hope it isn't all just in his head.

promising stuff, I for one hope that the apocalypse is imaginary, seen too many predictable "guy's right all along" endings. Would be interesting to see a gradual mental breakdown or psychosis thought the eyes of the film's protagonist

Curtis LaForche ( Michael Shannon ) could not have been casted better for the part.
Tornado shelters are not stupid.
Paranoid schizophrenia is a state of an open mind not illness.
