Marina Antunes [Celluloid 06.29.11] movie trailer news thriller south korea

I love the concept for Enemy at the Dead End (originally titled Desire to Kill). Co-written and directed by newcomers Owen Cho and Sang-Hwa Kim, it's the story of two men sharing a hospital room. Both are suffering from post-traumatic stress, distorted memories and an (initially) unexplained need to kill each other. The film plots along as the two try to decipher the events that have led to their need to kill each other. From the looks of the trailer, they almost succeed too.

Enemy at the Dead End has been kicking around for a few years and I don't expect it'll look nearly as polished as some of the other action thrillers coming out of South Korea but it does look rather promising, complete with comedic breaks, and I can't wait to see how the two men go from barely moving to the final scenes of the trailer in which the hospital room looks like it's been torn to pieces.

It doesn't seem like the entire film is limited to the one room setting but it does look like most of the action takes place in close quarters. Definitely high potential for some wicked fight sequences.

Though the film is scheduled to screen at Karlovy Vary, it's also available on DVD from YesAsia.

Trailer after the break.
