Something interesting finally happened on Falling Skies this week! No, Karen's still not back, but there was a twist that might yield some great human vs. human conflict and even brings back the show's villain, Pope (whose escape was so sloppily handled only two episodes ago). It could all even lead to more knowledge about the Skittles and their powers of negotiations. I'm thinking they have a lawyer breed we haven't seen yet.
Of course this dark little twist is not totally original, particularly for PA junkies familiar with John Wyndham's "Day of the Triffids," but it's something. And at this point I'll take what I can get.
At the beginning of the show the soldiers from the 2nd Mass meet a survivor of the 7th Mass who says most of his group was killed when Skitters attacked their stronghold. He warns them that they're next and to protect their kids they need to send them on ahead, while the rest of the survivors stay back and take on the invaders. This puts everyone in a funk because no one wants to part with their kids. They all start to get scared and Tom has to give a little "don't forget who the enemy is" speech and then personally vouch for any decision that's made. If you listen closely you can hear him mutter "man, being a hero sucks sometimes." [editor's note: as this is not true, don't waste your time listening for easter eggs].
Fearing attack, the 2nd Mass sets up a barricade around the school which mainly consists of an overturned 1992 Mazda 626 and a school bus. Considering Mechs claws can slice through steel, I'm pretty sure that fiberglass frame aint't keeping it out. When a Mech and Skitter (who, as you can see, has got the whole world in his hands) attack that very night, the group decides that this 7th Mass guy must know what he's talking about so they send their kids off ahead of them. Bum Bum Bum...
Other highlights from the episode include Margaret teaching Dr. Bloodgood how to shoot a gun, Hal questioning Ben's new ability to pump iron and realizing that, once again, the black guy always seems to get it.
See you next week members of the resistance!

Umm, why are you calling them the 12th Mass'? It is the 2nd: http://goo.gl/JddEX I am sourcing my review, but others are calling them the 2nd Mass' too. Are you even watching the show, or are you making these reviews up?:)

I thought they were the 12th for some reason. Or is that there are 12 groups total? Either way yes I'm watching the show and yes, I am making these reviews up.

I'm not watching the show. I just read Agentorange's fictionalised reviews, which are far more entertaining :)

Where ever they go everything seems to be pretty much intact. So where are all the people?

I was dissapointed in the betrayal aspect of this episode. Granted that it was obvious what was going to occur when the guy showed up with his ridiculous story and that the writers are obviously following the post-apoc playbook, I was completely irritated by the laughable way the characters submitted to the scam. It just doesn't make sense that no one had any suspicions of the guy. It was glaringly obvious that the guy's story was bogus and the fact that everyone simply bought into it after a token resistance makes them all look like dopes.

I know I'm a perv, but did it seem like "something" besides gunplay was going on between Margaret and Dr. Bloodgood? I swear they were going to start necking! Just the way they were looking at each other....no, really!
