Christopher Webster [Celluloid 08.03.11] post apocalyptic movie trailer news scifi

The Darkest Hour is produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and directed by Chris Gorak who's apocalyptic indie debut Right At Your Door, won us over more than two years ago.

The first trailer for the alien invasion film has premiered and it manages to add an interesting element and some nice visual surprises to one of my favourite old yarns. Looking forward to this one.

Five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fight to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack.

The film stars Olivia Thirlby, Emile Hirsch, Rachael Taylor, Joel Kinnaman and Max Minghella.

The movie hits theaters on December 23.

Looks good. Not sure about the ghost buster guns. But I like the aliens.

Shame Moscow is just being used as a backdrop. Not much of Russia in the trailer, just some Americans running around in a deserted city.

Looks interesting enough. Good idea.

This will be another let down to join Battle LA, TF 1,2 and 3, and Skyline to name but a few.

You can pretty much guess the entire plot, start to finale, from the trailer.

Gotta say, I'm looking forward to this one. Nice to see Joel Kinnaman in a film. Loved his work on AMC's "The Killing."

Looked too Hollywood'y to get any real emotion out from me. Good effects and good looking women doesn't equal a good story/film as proven here. The aliens looked more like ghosts/spirits than anything else.

Looked like a cross between Casper, DayWatch, Cloverfield and GhostBusters. Shocking!
