quietearth [Celluloid 01.22.12] scifi adventure



While our own kilowog will be attending the Sundance screening of Grabbers to provide us a review, I had a chance to trade emails with director Jon Wright on his next film called Our Robot Overlords. While the title gave me visions of a 1950's style schloky scifi, something akin to Zonad, it turned out I was way off base.

Wright dreamt the first two minutes of the film and upon waking up he thought "that's good!" Still in the scripting phase and backed by the British Film Institute (BFI), Wright was obviously hesitant on releasing details but from what he said I envision a hard sci-fi adventure for teens, however he points out that doesn't mean it's for kids. He also expects it will get compared to Goonies or Super 8.


Set in Britian 3 years after the robot invasion (which happens next Tuesday), the story follows a boy on an adventure.

I dig the Douglas Adams parenthetical humor. More as it comes!
