Marina Antunes [Cathode Ray Mission 02.17.12] scifi action western adventure

But don't get too excited. We're not going to get any new episodes of Joss Whedon's much beloved space western.

For the first time since 2008, "Firefly" will return to cable as the Science Channel has picked-up rights to the cult hit and plans on showing the entire series, in correct sequence, with a little bonus: each episode will end with Dr. Michio Kaku, a renowned physicist, exploring the theoretical science behind the show's sci-fi concepts. It's a Science Channel, of course there has to be some learning involved.

We could all just plop in our copies of the show and watch whenever we want but there's a gleeful joy from knowing it's on cable and that you're sharing the experience with other fans and folks who have been living under a rock and discovering the show for the first time.

As has become tradition whenever "Firefly" news erupts, Nathan Fillion has piped up and confirmed that yes, given the opportunity he'd play Mal again (because, you know, we didn't already know that).

It's been years since the show aired and years since Serenity and we've yet to see anything new from this universe and it's unlikely anything is coming in the near future but I do love that the fandom, as well as the actors involved, are still so invested in the series.

Let this series die.

Wasn't really that good, and its only the fan beast keeping this corpse alive.
