quietearth [Celluloid 05.31.12] Italy drama

From Italian director Domiziano Cristopharo comes the story of a new street drug: a heroin substitute. From what I can get on the translated synopsis, it makes your skin peel and apparently causes some insanely disorienting delusion. Check out the trailer.

A translation of the synopsis:
A powerful drug is sweeping the market: the Krokodil, a heroin substitute, easily synthesizable by anyone and made commonly available medicines. The Krokodil immediate addictive and its effects are devastating: the skin of those who use it begins to peel, then arriving to decompose up to show the bones...

It's not the Krokodil that causes the problem- it's just desomorphine. the gruesome side effects come from the process of cooking the cough medicine at home to produce the desomorphine. The cook takes longer than the high lasts, which is significantly shorter than the high of most other opiates. You end up with jonesing junkies trying to speed up a process that can't be speeded up and skipping vital steps. Impurities and residual solvents cause absesses and necrosis. GIS 'Krokodil' at your own risk!

Well there is that new Starship Troopers abortion that just dropped. No amount of story telling can make that look like anything other than bad a video game. So there are some examples. More often I'll see a bad trailer or teaser, judge the film bad, then end up seeing it and wondering how they could have made such a bad trailer from an otherwise decent film.
