quietearth [Celluloid 06.20.12] Greece thriller drama

I've never heard of Greek filmmaker Angelos Frantzis, but more about that later. Virus will start shooting in the Spring of 2013 and from what I can gather, it's about a man and his wife who've recently moved to a dreary industrial city with a polluted river. The wife gets pregnant, even though the don't have sex, and then things spiral into madness with a theme of religous hysteria vs. science. Unfortunately, I can't figure out where the title comes into play.

I'm curious to see where this goes. Is there a virus causing all the women to get pregnant without sex? I sure hope so.

Like I said: I've never heard of him, and his last feature, "In the Woods", which is described as an existential punk fairytale (trailer below), looks right up my alley. Unfortunately, it hasn't seen any release beyond festival play.

VIRUS is a psychological thriller about a Greek couple living in Siberia, who finds out the woman is pregnant with no intercourse. The questions raised relentless:was she cheating? Is she the victim of a conspiracy?Or a Saint...?When confronted with the unfathomed, can any answer bring peace?

... and without giving any more away ...

The mystical river, the baby without conception and the local church construct an atmosphere of tension, frustration and agony inside the couple.

Big theological error/misunderstanding:
immaculate conception=conception of a human being free from original sin(i.e. Mary in Catholic religion)
virginal conception=virgin birth of Jesus(as in Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Protestantism and Anglicanism).
