Marina Antunes [Celluloid 11.21.12] scifi thriller

Every time I think I'm done with Scott Stewart, he finds some new way to get my attention. I'm sure there's no need to remind you that Stewart is the man behind Legion and Priest, the latter of which I actually really enjoyed, gaining back all of the love I lost with the disappointment of Legion.

The director must be doing something right because he's lined up another project. Dark Skies is still ripe with sci-fi influence, it is an alien abduction thriller, but it seems to be a little more grounded that his previous work and if the trailer is any indication, it's a marked improvement for the director.

Dark Skies stars Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton, Dakota Goyo as a family experiencing strange phenomena that appear to be related to alien abductions. Scared and confused, they reach out to a man (great J.K. Simmons) who has some experience with the unfolding events.

As much as I rag on Stewart, I am happy that he keeps trying his hand at interesting projects. This one seems a little less adventurous than the previous but on the plus side, it does look pretty great.

The aliens, it's safe to assume they're aliens right?, will land February 22, 2013.

Only one question: where's Paul Bettany?
