In brief: The Wrap is reporting that J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars Episode VII for Disney Studios. The news comes after months of intense speculation following the news that the mega studio bought LucasFilm for around $4 Billion.

It's interesting to note that Abrams was also the man to re-launch 'that other science fiction franchise,' his Star Trek: Into Darkness is still in post-production and will open May 18, 2013.

I can't help but wonder if long time collaborator and friend to Abrams, Damon Lindelof, will be involved in some way.
