Marina Antunes [Celluloid 02.20.13] United Kingdom comedy crime

Director Dan Sully is best know for his work in music videos but recently the director paired up with the good folks at Vice for one of the best bits of darkly humorous entertainment I've seen in a little while.

The Ellington Kid has been live for a mere five days but it has already accumulated more than 400,000 views and for good reason: it's a gas. It stars Charlie G Hawkins and Hammed Animashaun as Nathan and Beefy, two friends enjoying a nice burger when Nathan flies into a story he heard about some kid who got stabbed and stumbled into the very same shop where the duo are enjoying a meal.

Not only does Sully's short look great but I love that it plays like both a thriller and a comedy. It's like one of the great stories you can't walk away from.

For more of Sully's work, check out his website which is loaded with music videos and photography.
