Marina Antunes [Celluloid 05.18.13] Australia horror thriller

While I've never seen Richard Franklin's Ozploitation classic Patrick, I have it on good authority that the thriller about a young man in a coma who has the power of telekinesis which he uses to kill, is pretty darn good. It certainly sounds great and I'm thinking it may be one to track down in the very near future.

A few years back it was announced that documentary director Mark Hartley, best known for Not Quite Hollywood (review) and Machete Maidens Unleashed, was going to helm a remake of the 70s thriller. The new project cast Jackson Gallagher in the role of the somewhat comatose Patrick, You're Next star Sharni Vinson as Kathy Jacquard the helpful nurse and the great Charles Dance, currently making a splash as Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones.

The recently released international trailer is pretty spiffy, featuring Patrick exercising impressive control over his mind, throwing people and objects around before eventually using his limbs to cause bodily harm. It's pretty badass.

No idea when this is due but stay tuned for developing news.
