Marina Antunes [Celluloid 07.16.13] France thriller

Pedophilia is an ugly thing but it's particularly vile when an entire institution tries to cover up the fact of its existence. We've read the news stories and seen the documentaries and let's be honest, most sane rational people are tempted to take matters into their own hands, perhaps much like Elisabeth, the angel of vengeance in Vincent Lannoo's In the Name of the Son.

Elisabeth witnesses her son commit suicide, discovers he was being abused by a priest and when the church offers no help, she takes the hunt for molesters into her own hands.

The trailer starts as a moody drama piece but by the minute mark, it descends into a bloody genre thriller as Elisabeth travels the country scratching names off of her list of criminals. It is a thing of magnificence and one that will undoubtedly be met with strong opposition.
