Marina Antunes [Celluloid 07.09.13] horror

The fact that Open Grave is directed by Apollo 18 (review) helmer Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego doesn't exactly excite me but I must admit that the first teaser for the movie is pretty damned good.

Written by relative new comers Eddie Borey and Chris Borey, the horror movie stars Sharlto Copley (of District 9 fame) as John, a man who wakes up in a pit of dead bodies with no memory of how he got there. It's a great setup that gets a bit convoluted from here as John must try to figure out what he's doing in the pit and whether he's a victim that slipped through the cracks or one of the murderers. Along with Copley, the movie co-stars Joseph Morgan and the great German actor Thomas Kretschmann.

Sadly the trailer is in Italian but it's a grimy and dark looking thing and I must admit that it (truthfully it's mostly the final scene of them looking over the mass grave of bodies), along with the recently released stills, peak my interest. No news on a possible release date.

Apollo 18 wasn't so bad. I liked the approach of it quite a bit, so this is definitely on my radar.
