Marina Antunes [Celluloid 07.23.13] Norway thriller

On the surface, the idea of a movie based on the origins of the Norwegian oil boom doesn't sound of particular interest but leave it to Insomnia director Erik Skjoldbjaerg to deliver a movie that appears to be a gritty and intense thriller which is part conspiracy story and part personal struggle.

Aksel Hennie (Headhunters) stars at Petter, an experienced diver with dreams of reaching the bottom of the Norwegian Sea, who signs up for a job with an oil company that is trying to bring the rich oil and gas deposits discovered out at sea to the mainland. When his brother dies, Petter finds himself at the centre of a shady business conspiracy that may also take his life.

It's not exactly a new story but one that has origins in real life events. What's important here is that the trailer suggests some great things to come and considering the production team behind the project, this is also produced by the folks that brought us the superb Headhunters (review), it's definitely one to keep an eye on.
