SyFy has officially said "go" to their 12 Monkeys TV show, a drama based on the 1995 time-travel thriller by Terry Gilliam. The hour long drama follows the journey of a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.

Production is set to begin in November with Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett (Terra Nova, Nikita), who wrote the pilot script, serving as Co-Executive Producers.

Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven (American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International), will Executive Produce. Roven produced the original film.

I don't see it working. I'd like it to be good, but I don't see it capturing the essence of the original and a reboot/re-imagining isn't needed.
Plus Terra Nova stunk like dead hobos.

This could work... If they don't make it a shoot-em-up, but capitalize on the confusion of the characters -- like the movie did.
