quietearth [Celluloid 09.20.13] United Kingdom action thriller

Gerard Johnson's serial killer flick Tony was a favourite around these parts, so we're excited to report that the director has a new film in production called Hyena; a police noir inspired by Jean Pierre Melville (La Samurai), a forerunner of the French New Wave. Set in contemporary West London among the Turkish and Albanian communities of asylum seekers.

British actor, producer Mem Ferda (Pusher, Devil's Double) turned us on to the flick, and let us know that he'll be featured in a kick ass cameo as Akif Dikman.

Logline:
Good policing doesn't necessarily mean doing everything by the book. But, as the business of crime in London turns to favour the Albanians and Turks, how does a "good" policeman survive?

Hyena was developed by Number 9 Films with the assistance of Film4.
