Christopher Webster [Celluloid 09.09.14] scifi horror action thriller adventure

With World's Greatest Dad and God Bless America (review), Bobcat Goldthwait has proven himself to be something of an auteur. Certainly, he's an uncompromising storyteller, unafraid of ruffling a few feathers with controversial content.

Enter his newest film, Willow Creek, a handheld horror affair about a search for bigfoot. An unexpected twist, but a film that's garnered great buzz, so it's an easy shot for most anticipated release of the week (sorry, Captain America).

Star Trek fans who were put off by the way extras were spread across various retailers of Into Darkness will be excited about the new Star Trek: The Compendium which assembles both J.J. Abrams' films in one set with all the extras intact. The project was spearheaded by Bill Hunt who runs The Digital Bits, who sat down with Paramount to discuss why they'd better release the second film in a way that wasn't such a shambles. As an example of why it's great that this happened, you now get the “enhanced” audio commentary that was previously only available as an iTunes download exclusive. So now, people like me who love commentaries, can feel okay with picking the film up on as a hard copy.

This is a four Blu-ray set. I don't think it's coming out on DVD.

This American remake of the Luc Besson produced District B13 sees release on the heels of Paul Walker's death, which puts in an odd light. I'm curious about the film, despite some low opinions.

Scream Factory are back with another killer Collector's Edition of a classic horror flick form the 80s. This time it's Stan Winston's directorial debut Pumpkinhead that gets the royal treatment. Keep it up, Scream Factory!

Honourable Mentions:
Prom Night (Synapse Edition)
Graduation Day (Blu-ray + DVD Combo)
Oliver Stone's Seizure on Blu-ray
Borgman
Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Ha ,I never put it together that Brick Mansions was the remake of D13.
Doesn't make me any more interested but it's weird I didn't pick up on that.

Willow Creek was dull as hell. I was very disappointed. No where near as good as Good Bless America.
