Christopher Webster [Celluloid 10.31.14] horror comedy



Cabin in the Woods is one of my favourite films of the last few years (review) and many horror fans agree. Part of what makes Drew Goddard's film so special is how deeply it penetrates (gross, sorry) the history of horror and pay homage to some of our favorite films, tropes and monsters.


The video below calls attention to the many reference in the film. Is it "every reference" as it claims? You decide, but it's certainly a lot of them.






One thing I learned from the video is that there was a novelization. Did not know that one!

Nice post. I liked it, especially the breakdown of all of the monsters.
