Christopher Webster [Celluloid 11.27.14] book horror



Titan Books has partnered with Quiet Earth to offer a copy of Christopher Golden's new Alien novel, River of Pain, which is the last book in a trilogy taking place prior to the events of Aliens revealing the secrets behind the colonization of LV-426.

Other books in the series include the first, "Alien: Out of the Shadows" and second "Alien: Sea of Sorrows"


Christopher Golden is a prolific scifi and fantasy author of many adult and YA novels including Ghosts of Albion (with Amber Benson), Hidden Cities (with Tim Lebbon) and the forthcoming The Secret Journeysof Jack London, (also with Lebbon). He is also known for other media tie-ins within such worlds as Buffy, Hellboy, and X-Men.



Book Synopsis:
When Ellen Ripley finally returns to Earth, she learns that the planet LV-426 — now called Acheron — has been colonized. But LV-426 is where Ripley and the crew of the Nostromo found the original Xenomorph — the killing machine known as the Alien.

Protected by the Colonial Marines, the colonists seek to terraform the storm-swept planet. Two such residents are Anne and Russell Jorden, seeeking a fortune that eluded them on Earth. On Acheron, Anne gives birth to the colony's first newborn, Rebecca Jorden, also known as Newt.

The wildcatters discover a vast, decaying spaceship. The horseshoe-shaped vessel is of particular interest to Weyland-Yutani, and may be the answer to their dreams. But what Anne and Russ find on board proves to be the stuff, not of dreams, but of nightmares.

Look if you dont remain true to the comic book "newts tale" your really doing the ALIENS universe a disservice.

Though i understand its adaptation of another version of the tale, hmmm.

the comic book "newts tale" is full of win, perhaps it can be drawn upon for strength in production.

thats my opinion.

Either way salute for adding to the universe, especially film material.

The ALIENS comic books are where the meat & potatos of the universe are, there are a great number of them which i highly encourage everyone to look into and enjoy as some of the stories are absolutely wonderful.

My favorite is "ALIENS labryinth" that comic story would also make for excellent film material.
