Christopher Webster [Celluloid 12.03.14] post apocalyptic scifi action thriller adventure

While the official trailer for TERMINATOR: GENISYS hits tomorrow, we thought we'd share this sneak peek at the film which offers the first official footage from the 2015 film. You'll see some familiar Terminator tropes including what looks to be a T-1000, arching electricity and that unforgettable robot arm.

We also get a brief shot of the entire globe getting pounded by nuclear bombs. I can only assume that's a glimpse at this film's version of Judgment Day.

Sarah Connor isn't the innocent she was when Linda Hamilton first sported feathered hair and acid-washed jeans in the role. Nor is she Hamilton's steely zero body-fat warrior in 1991's T2. Rather, the mother of humanity's messiah was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, she's been raised by (brace yourself) Schwarzenegger's Terminator—an older T-800 she calls "Pops"—who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. As a result, Sarah is a highly trained antisocial recluse who's great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion.

Terminator Genisys opens July 2, 2015. It is directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke and Matt Smith as well as Byung-Hun Lee and JK Simmons.

Still has a dumb plot, no matter how you dress it up
