Marina Antunes [Celluloid 01.21.15] Canada horror

While we eagerly anticipate the day Bruce McDonald makes the much buzzed about Pontypool (review) sequel, we'll take pretty much anything else the director is working on, and this time it happens to be a little horror movie which the maverick filmmaker is getting to debut at one of the most prestigious festivals in the world.

Hitting Sundance later this week, Hellions was written by Pascal Trottier (who also wrote The Colony (review)) and marks McDonald's return to horror since Pontypool. The movie stars Robert Patrick and Chloe Rose. Rose plays a teenager who has to fight off evil trick-o-treaters.

Sounds like excellent fodder for a Halloween release later this year and judging from McDonald's previous work and this first clip, this doesn't look like it'll be your typical horror movie. And that's more than a-okay with us. Who wants the same old anyways?

If you happen to be at Sundance, Hellions plays January 25th. Stay tuned for more info on a release!
