In a move that I can only think of as completely bonkers, A+E Studios is looking to expand their roster of original content in a format that has worked for them to date but which is quickly getting stale.

On the heels of success with "Bates Motel" and "The Returned," both properties that are based on other properties, A+E is moving ahead with a new project based on Let the Right One In (review), the great thriller about a lonely boy who falls in love with a lonely vampire girl.

The movie, based on John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel, has already spawned an excellent English language remake care of Matt Reeves (review) but Jeff Davis and actor-screenwriter Brandon Boyce, the showrunner and co-writer respectively of the rather good "Teen Wolf," see an opportunity for a show and A+E seems to agree.

I can definitely see potential for a TV show, extend the mating section and then there's the adventures to be had on the road, but I'm sceptical that the guys behind "Teen Wolf," a show that is really enjoyable fun but often very funny, will handle this material which is not only really dark but sombre and intense.
