XLrator Media, the kickass label responsible for bringing us cutting-edge slices of indie genre films like The Machine (review) and Time Lapse (review), have acquired North American distro rights to the historical epic Admiral, which premiered this year at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Set during the 17th century Anglo-Dutch naval wars, Admiral is one of the most expensive films produced in the Netherlands and was a box-office smash in its home country.

ADMIRAL features a star-studded international cast including Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner) and Frank Lammers (Bullhead).

The film was directed by Roel Reiné and produced by Klaas de Jong. With a dozen films under his belt, Reiné has built a reputation as a prolific studio director and action expert. He also directed The Man With The Iron Fists 2.

XLrator Media will release the film in early 2016 on its “TURBO” action label.

Am I the only one who finds that trailer utterly pedantic and pretentious?
