Marina Antunes [Celluloid 06.05.15] post apocalyptic scifi horror thriller fantasy adventure

The last time we heard anything bout The Stand adaptation, Matthew McConaughey was in talks to star, The Fault in Our Stars director Josh Boone was attached to direct and the project was going to be too expensive for one movie so it would be stretched over four. Things have changed slightly but don't fret, it's not all bad.

There's no further news on whether McConaughey is going to star or not but we do know Josh Boone is still on board as writer director but it appears that the four movie deal that was originally contemplated is out the window and instead, the studio is talking to Showtime about an eight part miniseries, to be written and directed by Boone, which would air as a pre-cursor to the feature which would also be written and directed by Boone.

So basically, rather than four movies (potentially 8 hours to cover the story), we'd get an 8 part series capped with a movie. That's, potentially, 10 to 11 hours of entertainment to come and for this fan at least, this sounds like the best option I've seen yet.

Stay tuned for more to come.

So I would guess the mini-series would cover the events through Boulder, and then the movie would focus on Las Vegas.

I hope they don't mess with the story too much to get it to fit that format.

Will the final movie be television or theatrical?

Don't mess with it too much, the mini series was well done, just copy it and add the story that had to be cut for budgetary reasons, I'd like to eet "the kid".. don't drag it out like "The Dome". M O O N that spells BAD.
