Christopher Webster [Celluloid 08.19.15] scifi thriller

Directed by Ridley Scott and based on the best-selling novel by Andy Weird, The Martian is poised to be one of the best science fiction films of 2015. And just in case you needed any more convincing of the film's pedigree, the screenplay was written by Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods, Daredevil).

Word from Comic-Coners who saw early footage was that The Martian delivers the thrills and the humour of the original source material and this new trailer delivers on that promise. We also get a ton more FX shots and sweeping Mars landscapes. We're definitely looking forward to this one.

Synopsis:
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.

Besides Matt Damon, the cast includes Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Donald Glover.

Recommended Release: Interstellar

Looks great, but after watching the "preview" I almost feel I don't need to see the movie now. :/ They could have left a lot more to the imagination.
