Christopher Webster [Celluloid 08.19.15] horror thriller

Nicolas Winding Refn really loves neon lights. He loves them so much, he put the word "neon" in the title of his upcoming thriller The Neon Demon! Well now it seems that his love of Neon has made it's way onto the first teaser poster for his long gestating remake/prequel of the 80s franchise Maniac Cop.

Last year it was reported that acclaimed comic book writer Ed Brubaker (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) had boarded the project. Could this mean we're even one step closer to seeing the film come to fruition?

Synopsis:
There’s a monster loose on the streets of New York... Or is it just a killer cop out to punish the city that destroyed him?

Released in 1988, the original Maniac Cop starred Robert Z'Dar as the titular ‘Maniac Cop’ alongside Bruce Campbell; it was followed by two sequels, with Maniac Cop 2 arriving in 1990 and Maniac Cop III: Badge of Silence closing out the trilogy in 1993.
