Christopher Webster [Celluloid 09.09.15] France comedy drama fantasy art

What if God existed, but he was kind of a dick and his daughter went on a crusade to set the record straight about him here on earth? Now imagine that was all presented as a funny and surrealist French film starring legends like Catherine Deneuve. I'm in!

That’s absurd concept behind Jaco Van Dormael’s film The Brand New Testament, a dark comedy that screened to rave reviews at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

We've tracked down the first English subtitled trailer for the film (you're welcome, folks), so sit back and check it out.

Official Synopsis:
God exists! He lives in Brussels. He’s a real bastard, odious with his wife and daughter. We know a lot about his son, but very little about his daughter. Her name is Ea and she’s ten years old. One day, she revolts against her father, hacks his computer and leaks to the entire world their inevitable date of death by SMS...

The film will play at Fantastic Fest 2015 and we hope to get a review out around that time.

Stay tuned!
