Christopher Webster [Celluloid 11.25.15] Canada thriller

This much-buzzed French Canadian thriller from director Philippe Lesage is a contender for the Whistler Film Festival's Borsos Competition For Best Canadian Feature in the Canadian Vanguard section and the first French-language trailer certainly makes a case that The Demons is one to watch out for.

Here's what the official Whistler description has to say about the film: "Lesage does wonders working with a cast of mostly children, but his approach to the darker material is truly original and frightening. This is the director's second non-documentary feature, but the keen observational eye that he has developed in his documentary work serves him well here.

THE DEMONS marks the arrival of a fiercely original new directorial talent. The film won the Quebec Critics Association award for Best Film at the Festival du nouveau cinéma in Montreal."
