Christopher Webster [Celluloid 12.02.15] Argentina scifi action thriller

Uncanny Valley has made such a quick impression that Argentina’s Federico Heller is already shopping a feature version of the idea - which will be part of a massive multi-media experience including a VR game on Oculus Rift - with the help of Independence Day: Resurgence writer Carter Blanchard who took it under his wing when it blew him away.

Without giving anything away, because the twist here really got me, Uncanny Valley explores the line between violent fantasies and antisocial behavior, poverty and the exploitation of if technology by the military.

In the slums of the future, virtual reality junkies satisfy their violent impulses in online entertainment. An expert player discovers that the line between games and reality is starting to fade away. 3DAR’s latest short film explores the frightening potential of our next technological revolution.

Big ups to Jesus Olmo for the awesome tip!
